This place is amazing. The schnitzel is to die for.Not to mention the poutine- it has fried mozzarella pieces!!!! That gravy though!!I’ve tried to 60% of their menu, and I have not been let down.They have a nice sitdown dining area, but we typically do take out. we have sat down and eaten there once, and the service was great.Keep up the great work.

Nice, eclectic beer selection. The food was very good and the service was great. She had the Pot Roast sandwich and I had Fish and Chips. The house dipping sauce was phenomenal!

Flew into the Charleston executive airport on John's island. The airport staff recommended the Southern General to us. The staff were very attentive pointed a special lunch sandwich which I tried, it was spectacular. The regular menu has a great selection of interesting and unique sandwiches .I could not recommend this establishment more for a quick sandwich a nice casual dinner or a relaxing end of the day beverage.

All in our party seem to enjoy what they ordered. Quality of food is very good and prices moderate.

I love coming here to eat all the wonderful food. The people here are sweet and very tentative to their customer's needs. My favorite thing to get is the Poutine, it is quite delicious even if I can't finish it.

I was really disappointed. Something about the place said it would have good food, but my pulled pork sandwich was really dry, and the macaroni & cheese bland. Our server had the absolute worst attitude, but she did a good job, so that was weird. I don't think I could be talked into going back.

A grey hidden treasure that my husband and I stumbled upon. Try the Cuban is it’s one of the best I’ve been able to find in Charleston!

While the atmosphere was unique, and staff friendly the food was disappointing after the reviews. We ate here recently and the fries and homemade chips were absolutely covered in this weird seasoning. It was covered in black pepper and perhaps dill? Not entirely sure. The 1/2 angus burger while cooked well lacked seasoning and tasted like something anyone could’ve cooked at home by just placing a patty on the grill with no salt or pepper. Very disappointing after reading how positive the restaurants reviews were.

I really enjoyed my visit. The food was awesome. The service was friendly. The place is very well taken care of. I highly recommend this place and will be bringing back my visitors during the summer.

I love this place. The menu is unique. My favorite is the cu-ban-mi. That's a Cuban with candied pork belly and kimchee. Also grab a jar of their pickles while there.

This was my first time here, and it did not disappoint. What initially drew me in was the fact that they have root beer floats; my boyfriend and I have been looking for those for forever! We finally got one. Then, naturally we had to get a sandwich. The low country sloppy joe was amazing. I thought the pimento cheese and green tomatoes would be weird on it but it was perfect. And the bread..oh my God the bread. Simple honey white bread with the best crunch you could ask for. Somehow we couldn't stop there. We had what ended up being an apple cobbler a la mode. The pit house made granola on top, sounds blah, but they put the perfect amount of butter and sugar to make it dessert appropriate. I would go back for sure.

This shop has became my favorite eating establishment very quickly.I live approximately 7 miles away ,so basically close and convenient ,but I c...ome for the good food and friendly and fast service.i'ved eaten there 12 times last month-actually it was only 11 because i just Drank beer one time.I've tried almost everything and it has all been fabulous. Hamburgers have probably been my favorite along with cheese curds and their soups and desserts are excellent. If you've never eaten at the "General" do yourself a favor and go.You Won't be Sorry. ALSO they have a good selection of local and Craft Beers and they are served Cold..

My parents were in town and picked this place. I saw they had vegetarian options, but mainly meat so I wasn’t expecting much. I was pleasantly surprised. I had their latke sandwich. It was amazing! I will definitely be back.

I've had very very good food from them before. The wings were a tad undercooked today. And the fries were super weird and some were raw. The gravy had chunks and no flavor. The sweet tea bbq sauce is very delicious.

This is an excellent small sandwich shop in a great location. I had the Southern Shrimp Po'boy that has beer battered shrimp and spicy remoulade sauce. Their iced tea is excellent. Just worth finding if you're on the way to Kiawah Island, or on James Island or Johns Island.

Talk about a hidden gem. Uniquely crafted gourmet sandwiches and the Sweet Tea BBQ wings... not to mention the Sloppy Joe... Yes, I said Sloppy Joe. Make sure you stop in, say Hi to Sarah (because she's awesome), and have yourself a delicious meal! You'll be happy and full! This place has an outstanding menu with daily specials!!

Super delicious food the quality is in the taste and craft the chef really knows his flavor combinations really well. Also the waiter and chef brought us to go boxes very quickly as we ordered too much for appetizers. When you get a meal that leaves you full and cannot wait to bring home leftovers you know its great. Also we are not locals to the area so this is a great find.

The best sandwiches in the Charleston area. Nothing on the menu disappoints. The Cu-Banh Mi, J.I.3., Super Butt and 1/2 Pound Low Country Long Burger are just a few of the many outstanding offerings. The rotating daily featured sandwich is always unique and fantastic. They have great vegetarian options too, with the Black Bean Burger and Potato Latke being at the top of my wife's list of great vegetarian dishes in the area. Make the trip out to Johns Island to The Southern General. You'll be glad you did.

Best sandwich place on EARTH! The menu is incredible but good luck getting through it because the special sandwich of the day will get you every time. Choose the the poutine as an appetizer and go home happy. 😁🍻

🙂Very cute small restaurant filled with lots of boardgames and cute Pinterest like decor!! 🤠We had our family reunion here trying to sit eight people was very hard in the restaurant was small but very accommodating. 🤭The fried cheese curds with french fries was a family favorite for an appetizer highly recommend it.🤠They also have ginormous filling salads as a healthier option.

Awesome creative sandwiches! Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area. Every sandwich that I have tried on the menu (and I try a different one every time I go) is the best one yet. Don't forget to check the special for the day and the daily dessert feature, because you definitely won't be disappointed.

This is a gem of a place , you would do yourself a disservice if you don’t eat here if you’re in the area. Everything we had was fresh and flavorful. They had an appetizer that was hand pulled cheese curds fried , delicious. This is the kind of place where it’s like a few buddies who liked to eat and cook said,” let’s share our food with everyone else” and it WORKS. I expect when the word gets out there will be a waiting line to muddle through and ....it would be worth it. One of the top 10

Its location doesnt scream high quality, but it totally is! Everything was delicious, great staff, reasonable prices. The food flavors and combinations are excellent!

Just a small place off to the back...you'll miss it on John's Island if you're not looking for it but man it's good. The wings are awesome here and you can't go wrong with any of the sandwiches on the menu. A fun little nod to Bill Murray on the wall makes this bar a great stop for lunch.
